Packing Lists

3 weeks in New Zealand

2 adults & 1 11-month-old, 2004

Loaned to us by my sister's awesome friends in New Zealand (though there are companies who do short-term rentals, we found): 1 pack-n-play; 1 carseat; 1 baby backpack.

  • L.L. Bean Women's Hiking Backpack - (fit in the overhead) - this bag had so many openings, I could access just about anything, without unpacking it.  Awesome.

    • 2 changes of clothes each, dark.
    • diapers.  wipes.  more of each than we thought we'd use.  We used them all.
    • small toiletries bag.
    • Gerber's sweet-potato veggie puffs (unopened - we threw any opened cans of these out before landing in New Zealand).
    • Big bottles of water, purchased near the gate.
    • 4 Small toys she'd never seen before, still in child-proof wrappings… each took at least 20 minutes to open, and then another 10-15 minutes to play with.  We then hid them and re-wrapped them later.
    • Reusable "sticker books".  Personal favorites are Thomas the Tank Engine and Where the Wild Things Are.
    • small toddler's etch-a-sketch.
    • personal travel items/documents we weren't carrying in our pockets.
    • cameras.

  • Large Black Rollerboard (checked)
    • clothes, hats, shoes.
    • warm layers for each of us.

  • Dress Bag (checked)
    • clothes for the wedding.  We left this bag at my sister's and didn't have anything in it that wasn't for the wedding.

  • Diaper Bag (fit under the seat)
    • - more diapers, snacks, water.
    • - 5 small lightweight books, to be swapped out with books in the Rollerboard.
    • - medicine, etc.

  • Beloved Maclaren Stroller (checked at the gate)
