Back in college before we had D, DH and I went on a trip to India to visit his parents (where his dad was posted at the time). We didn't notice until a couple of weeks before we left that the tickets we had purchased for December (and hadn't looked at since they arrived in the mail) had been incorrectly issued for SEPTEMBER instead. Fortunately this was before 9/11 and we were able to convince the airline that, no, we really *hadn't* already taken the trip, and they issued us new tickets. Lesson learned!
