I don't know why it was so easy for us. 2 weeks from photo to passport in mailbox.
Just read the instructions on the Dept. of State website.
I'd chalk a large part of your experience to sleep deprivation. But, I've got to give you that the camera being broken is a bit of BS.
Take your kid and see the world! They'll be better global citizens for it. And teach them a second language.
4 languages = quadrilingual
3 languages = trilingual
2 languages = bilingual
1 language = American
